The Sea

A large number of Blue Flag labels are awarded  by the Foundation for Environmental Education to environmentally well-kept beaches across the Marche region, including water quality, environmental management, safety and other services.

180 km of coastline, more than 20 towns along the Adriatic Sea, the port of Ancona and  9 tourist ports: this is what the Marche region can offer for un unforgettable beach holiday!

 

  • Sandy Beaches

    The coast boasts long sandy strands, clear water, small bays and coves surrounded by unspoiled landscapes. Here you can enjoy marvellous sunny days. The coast is near the ancient inland towns: a few miles from the long beaches and the steep cliffs plunging into the sea there are plenty of typical rolling hills.

  • Green Flag Beaches

    12 Green Flag beaches suitable for children fly in the Marche. They meet several requirements including clear water, wide and comfortable beaches. The towns where the Green Flags fly are: Gabicce Mare, Pesaro, Fano, Senigallia, Sirolo, Numana, Porto Recanati, Civitanova Marche, Porto San Giorgio, Cupra Marittima, Grottammare, San Benedetto del Tronto

  • Sand and pebbled beaches

    There are sandy gravel beaches for an excting seaside holiday. 

  • High coast

    The high cliffs plunging into the sea create coves and bays that can be reached taking a steep footpath or by boat.

  • Blue Flags

    The Marche region can boast one of the highest number of Blue Flag beaches of any region in Italy. The 18 Blue Flags flying in the Marche prestigious Blue Flag are awarded  by the Foundation for Environmental Education to environmentally well-kept beaches across Europe. The important "eco-label" is given to sites that meet strict criteria including water quality, environmental management, safety, fine accommodation and other services.

  • Seaside active holidays

    A seaside holiday in the Marche offers many opportunities to play sports. Active tourists can choose between cycling, golf, scuba diving, windsurfing, kite surfing and sailing; you can also have fun in the amusement parks too!
