Discover the Marche Spa Centres for a relaxing holiday.
Starting with the Romans, many societies have enjoyed the benefits of the thermal waters found in the Marche. In more recent times Spa centres have become synonymous with tourism, and the distinction between centres for health and specialised medical care, wellness centres and beauty farms tends to be much less well defined. With regard to the chemical-physical classification of the waters, the mineral springs in the Marche are sulphurous and are used for mineral water cures, beauty treatments as well as for bottling. They are recommended not only for the benefits they bring to digestive, ear-nose-and-throat, respiratory, skin, gynaecological, arthrorheumatic, vascular and renal conditions, but also for problems with the skin and aesthetic cures. Furthermore, in response to the new trends in tourist demand and to increase the attraction of the existing spa centre facilities, the Region actively promotes Spa tourism which is an undeniable resource in addition to the traditional naturalist, historic-cultural and enogastronomic tourism. This itinerary will take us through the Spa centres in the Marche giving a description of the Spa resorts and of the mineral water springs in the region, ranging from those already known nationally to those which, although somewhat lesser known in the territory, are very worthy of being brought to the attention of travellers.

The stages of the itinerary

  • Monte Grimano Terme- Montegrimano Spas
    The thermal waters of Montegrimano Spas are well-known for their healing properties. Monte Grimano has been a thriving hydrotherapy destination since 1900, and it still attracts large numbers of people who are interested in undergoing dedicated therapies and treatments based on thermal waters and mud baths.
    Hot springs offer natural methods and treatments to achieve wellness, beauty and vitality. The enchanting natural scenery is the ideal landscape for a structure offering the ideal scenario for a relaxing holiday, while respecting the rhythms and needs of body and spirit.
    The spa is temporarily closed ( year 2017).
  • Macerata Feltria - Pitinum Thermae thermal spa
    The hot springs and Spa of Pitinum Thermae can provide top-level health care thanks to the quality of its sulphuric waters. With these miraculous waters, useful in resolving many pathologies, all types of thermal treatments are possible: inhalation therapy, mud baths, dermatologic and gynaecologic therapy, insufflations against childhood deafness.

  • Petriano - Raffaello thermal spa

    The Raffaello hot springs, in Petriano, are part of the green and uncontaminated rural landscape of the Montefeltro area, very close to Urbino: it is a place where wellness meets art and nature. The thermal facility takes full advantage of the healthy properties of the waters: a perfect mix of the beneficial  qualities of their sulphuric, sulphate, bicarbonate and alkaline content.
  • Camerano - Aspio thermal spa

    Not far from the Conero park, in a quiet area you can find the Aspio thermal spa.

    Inhalation therapies, nutritional advice, anti-aging cures, a health centre and a well- being area are at your disposal.

    Thanks to the equipment supplied,  all diseases can be treated: nose, ear, throat, trachea, bronchi, lungs, in addition to sinusitis, rhinitis, pharyngitis, otitis media, bronchitis, chronic. The cure is effective if you drink water on an empty stomach.

    Inhalation therapies, nutritional advice, anti-aging cures, a health centre (Ultrasound Doctors Office, acupuncture, a psychologist, a homoeopath, a masseur, etc) and a well- being area are at your disposal.

    Inhalation therapies include: inhalations, treatments with a nebulizer, nasal irrigation.

    Other treatments are: Politzer crenotherapy, hearing loss treatment due to nose and throat inflammation, hydrotherapy, etc.

  • Genga - San Vittore thermal spa

    The spa of San Vittore is in the wonderful gorge of Frasassi, near the well- known Frasassi Caves and the Romanesque abbey of San Vittore. It’s surrounded by mountains covered with trees.

    At the spa, where natural sulphurous waters are used you can ask for:

    -          Inhaling therapies for the respiratory system ( such as nebulization therapy, sulphurous thermal water inhalations, etc.);

    -          Balneotherapy ( taking a bath in sulphurous water) and mud treatments for bones and joints.

    -          A section is specialized for the treatment of patients with diseases and disorders of the ear, nose and throat. Therapies include: placement of a catheter into the eardrum; Politzer crenotherapy; nebulizations, nasal irrigation,insufflations,etc.

    -          Also aesthetic therapies are offered, such as skin- peeling and facial massage etc.

    Some of the therapies are paid by the National Health System and others are private.

  • Tolentino - Santa Lucia Thermal Spa

  • Sarnano - Sarnano thermal spa

    The highly effective mineral waters of the springs of St. James and the Three Saints and Sulfuree Terro, Sassetto and Borghetti, have amply demonstrated to achieve excellent results in the work of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of many affezioni. In aesthetic field they have been successfully used for cellulite problems, peripheral lymphatic stagnation and atrophy of the skin, the ozonated whirlpool hydrotherapy, underwater massage and aesthetic. Prevention, rehabilitation, beauty, and tranquility complement the Spa of Sarnano.

    A brand- new wellness centre, an indoor thermal pool with whirlpool, an outdoor thermal pool with solarium and self- catering apartments are the new available services after the opening of the new spa in 2017.
  • Fermo, Torre di Palme - Palmense spa establishment

    The spa is about 2 km far from the hamlet of Torre di Palme. Here there’s a spring of medium mineral bicarbonate alkaline water which is called “Acqua Palmense del Piceno”. It’s used as a drink in the nearby spa for the treatment of metabolic disorders.

    It’s a pleasant taste and it can be easily digested because it’s very light. It must be drunk slowly, with an empty stomach, for about 15- 20 days. The spa has been opened in 1950, about 50 years after the discovery of the water spring.

    The spa will not open in the year 2017.

  • Acquasanta Terme - Acquasanta Terme thermal spa

    On the national road Salaria, 18 kilometers from Ascoli Piceno,  is the  Acquasanta spa located in the municipality of Acquasanta Terme at an altitude of m.400, at the edge of the National parks of Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga and Monti Sibillini. Its name derives from the presence of underground sulphurous thermal waters. The  waters allowed the birth of the spa, which already existed in 1851.  In the spa you can take, muds, baths, inhalation therapies, nasal irrigation,insufflations, etc.
    In the bathing establishment you can also find a wellness centre, which was built using stone from the local quarry.
    Other available services are: a swimming pool with sulphurous water, an aesthetic centre, a restaurant and a three- star hotel directly connected to the spa.

    The spa will open in the year 2018.
